Description
We aim to help making golf a sustainable sport by encouraging golfers to no longer use plastic castle tees on the golf course but still benefit from a consistent tee height. EcoTee offers bamboo alternatives that are 100% biodegradable.
The environmental consequences of our addiction to plastic are massive. The production and distribution of plastic has a huge carbon footprint, which is exacerbated because so many plastic products are designed to be disposable, and are destined for the landfill after just one use. Recycling is not the perfect solution either as plastic is never able to be truly recycled and converted back into what it was, i.e. a water bottle cannot be recycled into another water bottle. At best it can be down-cycled into another product, such as textiles, and at worst it ends up in landfill, or littering the countryside, waterways, and oceans – where it will stay forever.
Our modern obsession with throw-away plastic in the name of convenience (cheap graduated plastic golf tees, anyone?) comes at a high price.
The more people that wake up to the issues of plastic pollution, the greater the impact of positive action. There is an urgent need to address our disposable culture, and a growing movement to bring back some of the values from the past. Choosing to have fewer products that are of higher quality, made from safer materials, and designed to last – rather than filling our lives with cheap, disposable, low quality products made from toxic materials – is better for our health, and better for the planet too.
So what can you do?
For golfers, small changes and smart choices could help to lessen your environmental impact.
Bring a refillable water bottle with you on course, choose bamboo golf tees over plastic ones which are causing harm to wildlife and the environment.
Over 5 billion plastic golf tees a year end up in landfills and pollute our environment
Over 70,000 trees per year are cut per year just to supply wood tees in the USA
Bamboo golf tees are 5 x stronger than wood and cut from the shoots of the Bamboo that will regrow within 2 to 4 weeks making it 100% sustainable
The farms we source from produce organic bamboo that grows at a rapid rate. The local villagers and artisans use no pesticides or poisons, and harvest by hand. They then grade, shape and refine the bamboo to suit the design of our products.
